Alexandra and Alan met through the dating app Tinder. After ten months together, they went to Nights of a Thousand Candles at Brookgreen Gardens. Alan led Alexandra to her favorite place in the gardens where the Spanish moss hung. They walked into a crowd of people when she heard “Can’t Help Falling in Love” playing on a guitar. There Alan got down on one knee and asked her to be his wife. After she said yes, Alexandra heard cheering and noticed both of their families standing off to the side waiting.
The October wedding was held at Pawleys Plantation and featured a fairy tale theme. The ceremony took place on the lawn, where guests enjoyed beautiful music from a string trio. The colors were blush, ivory and gold, with the entire plantation decorated with mirrors, flowers, candles and lanterns. The bride wore a long and lacy sweetheart style gown from The Little White Dress accented with a crystal and pearl belt. She wore pearls from her mother, a bracelet from her sister and carried a Bible from her grandmother, as well as donning personalized Jack Rogers with her new monogram. The bridesmaids wore petal pink and the groomsmen wore blue suits with Coastal Carolina University socks.
Scattered around the venue were portraits of the bride and groom, as well as photos of family members who could not be there to celebrate the day. A customized book allowed guests to snap a picture and leave a message for the couple. The four-tired cake by Pawleys Island Bakery featured a different flavor in each layer and was topped with an old-fashioned porcelain bride and groom used by Alexandra’s grandparents. Guests were offered mini sliders to end their night and the wedding favor was a personalized wine stopper designed by the bride’s father. The couple received a special gift of calligraphy from friends in China that read, “grow old along with me, the best is yet to be.”
