Heather and Ricky met and became friends in high school but lost touch afterwards. When Heather returned to Myrtle Beach after culinary school, the pair ran into each other seeing their favorite band, 311, at the House of Blues. The rest is history. On Christmas morning in 2015, Ricky surprised Heather with a CD featuring him playing guitar and singing her favorite songs. As they listened at home in their pajamas, he proposed.
Their October wedding at Wachesaw Plantation marked their eight year anniversary of dating. The pair said their vows on the bluff and drew inspiration from the gorgeous venue and the Waccamaw River. The color scheme featured shades of blue watercolor, oyster and rich cranberry. The bride wore a strapless sweetheart Allure Bridals lace dress from Coastal Knot, while the bridesmaids donned cranberry maxi dresses. The groom and groomsmen wore blue suits from Jos. A. Bank.
Guests dined on a grilled cheese bar (the bride’s favorite), shrimp and grits, oysters Rockefeller, a beef tenderloin slider station and other Lowcountry fare. The couple’s love for music played a big role in their wedding, and they featured modern songs in both their ceremony and reception. It was also special for them to include their dog, Beetle, in their big day.
